BRANDON, Miss. ––Chris Milone, 37, newly elected president of Mississippi Conference UM Men, helped launch Mississippi’s only burn center. He now serves as the outreach educator for the Joseph M. Still Burn Centers, a post he has held since July, 2009.
His primary job is to educate healthcare providers on procedures and benefits of sending patients to one of the three JMS Burn Centers, and to serve as a liaison between the healthcare providers and burn center staff.
After serving as president of UM Men of St. Marks UMC, he was elected Mississippi Conference president. “I have a strong desire to challenge young men like myself to become more involved,” said Milone.
He has been a member of the St. Mark’s Mission and Evangelism Committees and the Administrative Council. He has also served as a “Friend-in-Faith” mentor, a Sunday school teacher, a youth group leader and a member of the Mississippi Annual Conference.
In 2006, Milone participated in a Mississippi United Methodist Cursillo, an intensive three day experience which looks at Christianity as a lifestyle from a New Testament perspective. The following years, he served on the Cursillo staff to help strengthen and renew the faith of Christian people, and through them, their families, congregations, and the world.
