Estes Park UM Men

ESTES PARK, Colo.––Some of the men of Estes Park UMC were forced to evacuate their homes following flooding in the area, but the church is fine and no one in the congregation suffered any injuries.

“Water came up to the retaining wall of the church, but it was not damaged,” said Jim Kutrubes, president of the chartered Estes Park UM Men. “The bigger issue now is access to our community and the need to repair our damaged infrastructure.”

He reported that some men are helping with the cleanup, and they are providing funds through the Conference Disaster Fund.

Information from other Colorado churches

•    Lyons UMC––The town is completely isolated and the infrastructure is destroyed. No clean water is available
•    Johnstown UMC––The church has no access to the town.
•    St. Paul’s UMC, Boulder––There is extensive flood damage to the parsonage and the church. The grandson of one of the church members was swept away during the flooding
•    Mountain View UMC, Boulder––There is flooding at the church and parsonage
•    Ft. Lupton UMC––There is some water damage in the parsonage basement and the church.
•    Burns UMC––There is flooding in the first floor and the elevator shaft.
•    Longmont UMC––The town was cut in half for a time when the St.Vrain River and local creeks and waterways overflowed. The homes of eight families experienced significant damage.
