The Society of St. Andrew is set to establish a new record for amount of food gleaned from fields. At the end of November, more than 17 million pounds of food have been gleaned, up 21 pecent over 2009.
Efforts led by the society have saved more than 16i million pounds of food, up 7.1 percent over 2009.
In existence since 1983, the society has distributed 620 millioon pounds of food or 1.86 billion servings at a cost of 2.3 cents per serving.
