Church Renewal

UMM is working to implement a new model and vision of men’s ministry. We believe that the result will be men involved in all four areas of focus which will reach the world for Christ. United Methodist Men are responding to the four areas of focus in the following ways:

New places for new people and renewal of existing congregations…

  • Awakening and building new spiritually as a means to revive congregations.
  • Training clergy and lay leaders in effective discipleship of men.
  • Encouraging and equipping men to serve their pastors and congregations as ministry partners.
  • Assisting UMC leaders beyond the USA with relevant training and resources.

Conference presidents of UM Men and conference prayer advocates sponsor a variety of activities.


9 annual conference engaged in Disciple Bible Outreach Ministries in five states**

12 people inducted into the John Wesley Society.*

16 annual conferences maintained or increased the number of chartered organizations.*

20 annual conferences maintained or increased the number of EMS members (Every Man Shares in Evangelism, Mission and Spiritual Life).*

$16,340 given by UM Men to the Upper Room Living Prayer Line.*

19,200 GCUMM.org website users.*

23,972 youngsters earned PRAY (Programs of Religious Activities with Youth) Awards, United Methodists were tops among all denominations.*

25,419 visits to the GCUMM.org website (72% new visitors).*

30,000 copies of Strength for Service to God and Community distributed, including free copies to first responders in disaster areas.**

76,004 page views on GCUMM website.*

$85,310 given to support the Meals for Millions fund of the Society of St. Andrew.*

198,370 prayers received by the Upper Room Living Prayer Center.*

212,593 United Methodist Cub Scouts, highest of all denominations.***

365,565 United Methodists involved in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venturing, second highest of all denominations.***

485,000 copies of Strength for Service to God and Country distributed, primarily to members of the armed services.**
